Edward M. Matsuishi, DDS

As a specialist in Pediatric Dentistry for over 40 years, Dr. Matsuishi has had the privilege of helping thousands of children grow and blossom. From teaching parents how to take care of their infant’s first teeth to catching up with college kids back for check-ups during semester breaks, Dr. Matsuishi loves being part of his patient’s lives.

Dr. Matsuishi graduated from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. He completed his specialty training at the Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Oakland. Throughout his career, Dr. Matsuishi has had the honor of holding many prestigious positions, clinical professor at UOP Dental School and President of the California Society of Dentistry for Children to name a few. He is both a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and a certified specialist by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Matsuishi has made Pediatric Dentistry his life’s work. He maintains a close relationship with his patients. At the end of the day, he personally calls every parent whose child has had restorative work done to make sure he/she is doing well. Recently, he has had the pleasure of treating many young children whose parents were once his patients. Privileged to be a part of so many children’s lives, Dr. Matsuishi looks forward to a future filled with his patients’ bright, healthy smiles.

       Dr. Matsuishi enjoys fishing, traveling, race car driving, and spending time with his granddaughter.



Nicholas Y. Ching, DDS

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Dr. Ching went to the University of California, Los Angeles where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. He completed his dental education at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Ching then completed his specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he was also appointed Chief Resident at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Ching is board certified and a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

With such deep roots in the community and a passion for providing excellent care, Dr. Ching is always excited to provide care for his kids at Children’s Dentistry. His first priority is and has always been to provide the best care possible for his patients by keeping up with the latest research and technologies.

Dr. Ching’s enthusiasm and passion for oral health extends beyond the Children’s Dentistry office. He has been appointed as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry and staff dentist at the Eastmont Wellness Center. There, he helps to oversee and mentor predoctoral students. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Berkeley Dental Society.

In addition to his volunteer activities, Dr. Ching enjoys running and hiking. He also loves spending time with his wonderful wife, Yeun Joo, cheering on the San Francisco Giants, watching Disney and Pixar movies, and exploring all the great eats in the Bay Area!
