Meet the Doctor

Nicholas Y. Ching, D.D.S.

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Dr. Ching went to the University of California, Los Angeles, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. He completed his dental education at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Ching then completed his specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where he was also appointed Chief Resident at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Ching is board certified and a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry!

Dr. Ching was once a patient here at Children's Dentistry when Dr. Edward Matsuishi had owned the practice. Dr. Ching knows exactly what your child needs for their dental care because he was in their shoes at one point! With the postive experiences gained from being Dr. Matsuishi's patient, Dr. Ching was inspired to pursue pediatric dentistry, and, now, as the owner of Children's Dentistry, he wants to pass those positive experiences to your child. With such deep roots in the community and a keen understanding of the patient experience, Dr. Ching is always excited to provide excellent care for his kids at Children’s Dentistry.

Dr. Ching’s enthusiasm and passion for oral health extends beyond the Children’s Dentistry office. He has been appointed as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry. There, he helps to oversee and mentor predoctoral students. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Berkeley Dental Society.

In addition to his volunteer activities, Dr. Ching loves spending time with his wonderful wife, Yeun Joo, and his sons, Kentaro and Kojiro. He also enjoys running/hiking, cheering on the Golden State Warriors, watching Disney and Pixar movies, and exploring all the great eats in the Bay Area!
